Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Build quality and PriceThe price and the build quality of this unit is excellent as it features most of the higher-end things you’d expect in an electric scooter. It has up to about 24 km an hour speed in a single gear which does not require switching from a first to second gear. And at this price you’re getting on board light cruise control and kickstand. One of the added upgrades on this is a pull out locking pin which makes folding way easier. This scooter is also really portable compared to other models out there. At this price the build quality is superb and I am extremely happy with this scooter.Ride, speed and powerThe XR Ultra is the mid to higher end of the gotrax line with the XR Elite being a newer model. However the XR Ultra has excellent power and LG batteries which are supposed to allow a longer ride as well as better power delivery. I was able to get about 14 1/2 miles per an hour which is equivalent to 22.5 km an hour. I weigh about a hundred and sixty pounds and I am nowhere near the max weight of 200 and 20 pounds for this scooter. While scooter doesn’t have suspension it rides fairly smooth with air filled pneunatic tires that are about 8.5 in in size. There is vibration and movement when going over bumps but the tires give a decent amount of cushion. Acceleration on this scooter was moderate. It takes about 8 seconds to get to full speed at 24km/h. You feel safe on it and it’s not too fast but good enough in this price point. Therefore for both older kids and adults it works perfectly. The acceleration was nice and gradual which also requires a kickoff in order to start. The brakes are good and I’m able to stop and feel safe when doing so. The scooter has a rear disk brake and an electronic regenerative brake for the front. Slamming the brakes at full speed will allow you to stop in about 5 meters distance. I haven’t tested it on uphill or slopes but I think it should be able to handle it with the 300w power motor.Features and DesignThe display is bright and provides simple battery bars the speed and a single press on the power button turns on the flashlight at the front. For normal operation you hold down the button for approximately two seconds and to turn it off you hold it for 5. Unlike some of the older models this unit does not require you to press the multi-function power button to change from the slower first gear to a second gear automatically has a single gear now which is definitely a wise move from gotrax. The included Bell on top of the brake handle is an added bonus as you don’t have to purchase a separate Bell. The grips are comfortable and minimalist and look nice and clean. The cruise control engages after holding down the throttle at full speed for more than 10 seconds. And the throttle is ergonomic and feels natural activating with your thumb. The XR Ultra is about 27 lbs in weight and it folds easily with the pull-out safety pin knob and release lever. Once it is folded it locks to a red buckle that sits on top of the rearwheel fender. In order to release it you simply push down on to the red release and pulled the stem and handlebars up until it locks into place automatically. The overall weight isn’t too bad and the deck size is pretty good allowing you comfortable foot position after kicking off to start. One thing to be careful of is the brake cable which runs up the stem instead of being inside. The stem is fairly thick and with medium size hands I can comfortably hold and carry it with one hand. The unit is also fairly portable compared to other electric scooters and I am happy with its design. The motor is housed in the front wheel end the LG batteries are stored inside of the stem. One thing I dislike about the stem is the large Gotrax logo in white. I would have preferred if the had a more minimalist logo or even one that was simply a different colour lettering then thick white wrap around the stem. The only other knit pick I have is if you want to attach a cell mount there is very little room to add one that will not impede your grip and motor function. I’m looking to add an extension bar which will mount onto the handlebars on both sides and I’ll be able to mount a cell holder and other accessories later on. This isn’t a deal breaker just an personal observation.Assembly and MaintenanceAssembly was fairly easy although the instruction manual had slightly different instructions if you follow the assembly tag that is on the handlebars they are the correct ones. You simply remove the Red Hook attached the top steering handles, the brake line end and screw in the Red Hook which also secures the lower and upper stem together. The process takes about 5 minutes to put together. The charging port is located just under the power button behind a rubber cover. Charging takes a total of 4 hours to get a full charge. The charger adapter goes from red to green indicating a full charge on green. This scooter is ip54 so while you can get a bit of water or moisture on it I wouldn’t use it to commute in rain.Scooter console functionsPower on, 1 sec holdPower off, 5 sec holdHeadlight on/off, 1 sec pressSpeed is in MPH onlyFInal thoughtsI think for the price this budget scooter is an excellent deal. The quality the design and the features are something that you can be proud of when purchasing the XR Ultra. I feel that it will last for years to come and I am more than pleased with its performance and features. Looking at comparable scooters I still think that this is the way to go given a mid to low budget. If you don’t want to spend this much I would probably go with the lower models like the XR or GXL V2. If you have a bit more money to spend than go with the higher XR Elite.

For those who don’t know, it’s important to point out that Hiboy S2R is effectively a significantly upgraded version of the successful Hiboy S2 electric scooter. That means it has almost identical styling to the S2. The battery remains under the deck, but this time it’s more accessible and easier to replace so that I can double the riding time in just a few seconds. We could say that S2R is somewhere between S2 and S2 Pro.In this model, the manufacturer has fixed the small flaws in the S2. More robust solid rubber tires, bigger deck, a sturdier folding mechanism, greater range, and an excellent fast-charging battery. As I mentioned, the overall design is the same as the S2 frame, but there are several significant differences. The most important ones include color touches on the wheel area. Eye-catchy red details are giving a more sporty look. Also, But some less obvious differences include innovative battery technology. Battery cells are under the deck, but this time, with just one twist of a key, you will be able to take them out and put new ones—this way, full range doubles in only a few seconds. Of course, you will need to have an extra battery pack for this feature. The S2R has 8.5″ solid rubber tires, which are puncture resistant and self-healing. Based on my experience, 8.5-inch wheels with solid tires guarantees a better ride than the vast majority of electric scooters on the market. However, one major disappointment was the absence of suspension. The suspension would definitely improve ride quality, but even without suspension, it’s pretty good and more than adequate for most urban surfaces. As with any other modern urban electric scooter, S2R is portable, foldable, and lightweight. It weighs 30.8 lbs, so there will be no problems carrying it around if needed. Thanks to a fast-folding mechanism consisting of a one-touch latch, the rider needs less than 5 seconds to fold or unfold the S2R fully. I can readily carry it or store it in my car trunk. The brakes are so responsive, with the regenerative front brake feeding energy back into the battery. I love the LED display that shows speed, battery life, riding modes, and more. I can also connect to the Hiboy S2 App and lock their scooter, monitor the speed, or customize it. There are two bright LED lights in the front and back, providing more than enough light to see and be seen during the night. I could reach a top speed of 19 mph but, as the battery drains, it would be challenging to get the 19 mph. However, this is common in many electric scooters. It Features a 350 W brushless motor powered by Lithium-Ion 36 V, 7.5 Ah battery pack. I expected this feature to be greater than at the S2. It seems that this time people at Hiboy decided to go with the same power and battery source, but with an upgraded detachable and replaceable battery system. How does this battery system work? Easy, just use the key to unlock the battery holder, open the lid, and extract the battery. After that, you can insert a replacement battery pack and prolong the ride for extra 17 miles. I almost forget to say that the maximum range on a fully charged battery is 17 miles. So, with a replacement battery pack, I can double the range.Overall, it is a good scooter, and I think it is a great option for beginners.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I wanted to share some thoughts about this electric scooter that I bought for my husband for Christmas. Since we are in Canada, we mainly bought this for the spring/summer time to cruise around the city, run errands or take it on vacation. The design is very sleek and compact, it is easy to store and looks really nice. It was quite simple and straight forward to assemble which took under 5 minutes. It is easy to fold which will be very nice and portable for trips. It is super easy to fold, which makes it handy if you own a compact car/home for storage. The handgrips are of great quality and durable. To power the scooter you push down on the red button for a few seconds and it will turn on. The front and rear wheels are 8.5 inches and which makes it an enjoyable comfortable ride. The frame is stylish yet very durable and functional. The LED display shows the current speed, battery life, and different speed modes. It also has a cruise control option as well. My husband was very excited trying out his new commute scooter. He was very happy with the dual braking system and reported that it felt very sturdy and smooth as he rode it.Though this scooter is portable and lightweight, it is quite powerful with a 300 W motor and can go up to 15.5 MPH.We can’t wait to use it more often as spring arrives. Would recommend and are very satisfied with our purchase.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video. We have been looking at electric scooters for quite some time and settled on this one for a couple of reasons. The 300 watt motor and long battery life were probably the two biggest reasons. This sturdy and well built scooter has plenty of pep to get you going. Our 12 year old son quickly took ownership of it, and rides it nearly everywhere now. His commute to school is about 10 km, and the scooter has no problem getting him there and back on a single charge – even in minus 10 C temps! The ride is quite smooth with reasonable acceleration that is really quiet and effective breaking (only the back tire has a disk brake, but the electric motor which drives the front tire also has a retarder system that slows you down when you take your thumb off of the throttle) Handling is nimble and within minutes you feel like you’ve been riding an e scooter for years. While the top speed is only around 15mph, that is actually quite fast and exhilarating when there is no engine noise. My son weighs around 100lbs and has had no issue with any hills he has tried to climb on the scooter. I am a little of 220lbs, and while I enjoy riding the scooter on flat ground (and it does really well even with my weight), it lags a bit in power on the steeper hills for me. (the manual states that the max capacity of the scooter is 220 lbs, so this is probably to be expected)Being able to fold the scooter into a smaller form is really nice for storage and transporting. It comes with a tire inflation extension line and an allen key. The manual is well written and fairly comprehensive. There is little to no maintenance required, but we try to keep the batteries at about 50% capacity for longer term storage. We have had this scooter for a little over three months now, and have charged it probably 30 or 40 times. There is no noticeable reduction in battery performance or the performance of the drive motor. Should issues arise, we will certainly update this review. If you are looking for an e scooter, this is an excellent choice in it’s price range.

Do not buy. Throttle stopped working after only 2 months. I thought the other reviews that warned people of the same were just the unlucky ones and that it would not be the case for me but unfortunately it happened to me as well. Even though I am still within the 3 months warrantee period the only way for them to repair this thing is for me to send them the whole scooter back to the manufacturer and being from Canada, it is not an easy or cheap thing. You can forget about it if you don’t have a US address. I ended up using my sister’s address from the US. It will most likely end costing me close to the original price of this thing for me to get it shipped to them and they shipping it to my US address then get it sent to my address in Canada. Very poor setup system as they shouldn’t be selling outside of US at all. Buyer beware!!

Let’s start with why it got overall 4 stars when other parts got 5. Foremost I still LOVE this scooter and use it daily. This first part isn’t an issue for anyone knowledgeable with bikes, scooters, or other precision instruments, but most are not, Maintenance, Maintenance, Maintenance.A lot of screws were loose upon arrival, including two screws under that orange reflective panel that covers the back wheel, which I never knew existed without extensive research. Two of the 6 under those reflective panels were partially stripped as well. Any experienced owner uses Loctite to create a seal you can break and keep all the screws tightened until you choose to take them out (you want resealable Loctite, not the super glue. I believe its 242-b but don’t quote me. There’s different kinds of Loctite for different purposes so if you’re not sure ask someone working at the local hardware store/automotive store for more info) This means without maintenance risks go up more you use it without taking care of it. This is not a toy it hits 20 MPH and can be very dangerous. The average person may not know all of this so I hope it helps!Second another reason i gave it the 4 is the rattles and knocks. While I gave this up and down inspection it still rattles. I’m fully confident of it, think it’s the wires loose and knocking, but the clicks, creaks, and rattles can be annoying more than detrimental. I just feel at this price point that shouldn’t happen serious or not. Ill also have to say I ride Pretty rough sidewalks a lot when I ride on a soft road its much less noticeable. Our city has awful sidewalks so that’s probably not the scooters fault really. Now onto other things I can praise on this.Average I’m 175ish pounds with camera gear lets say 200ish pounds (i use this for urban adventures and photography) I still can easily hit 19/20 mph and still get 10 miles range or so per charge When I’m gunning full speed. This changes to 12.5-13 miles range if more like 10-12 mph speed is okay. You get an app on smartphone that can customize all sorts of different things. My tip reduce acceleration speed and put the electronic brake all the way up. you also can push it manually since the wheels are well aligned (after some break tweaking which is easy)Between manual pushing and the electronic brake it’ll help replenish battery life, which I don’t think I’ve seen on a scooter in this range.Other features include a decent headlight and tail light for being technically legal at night. I put an extra light and tail light on for that case, but I wouldn’t hesitate to use it at night when needed.I took a risk and bought an extra battery on purchase and that’s the thing I will never regret. 25-26 miles max per 2 batteries and the ability to change the battery when its dying, it’s simply the best. Its the main reason I chose this dude. The rubberized tires make for a rattling ride at high speeds, but I chose this for overall distance. Random other notes its pretty small folded, but a lil heavy. Still compact enough to leave with a cashier at the store vs locking it up. Its a wonderful little ride with some criticisms, but I cant insult it when I have had such impressive results. If I’m pushing it I can easily take my photography equipment and the extra battery with no problems, yet I only needed the extra battery twice.one year update. still going strong surprisingly. maintenance is required often if you use it as much as i do, but batteries are still holding a charge and I’m still getting consistent speeds. its a tough little scooter. its light enough to carry around even an uber or bus, I actually have local grocery stores and choose to use this vs my car for small trips as it saves a ton of gas especially during laundry mat trips. I try to stay shy of the max speeds as the battery drains fast. it goes 18-19mph reduce that to 14-16mph and you get a lot more out of it including acceleration speed and battery life. The app is so incredibly useful too as you can tweak so many specifics like speed braking acceleration etc, but that’s old news in my old review.. for a 500 dollar scooter I’m shocked, I betted maybe 6 months. if a few bumps due to lack on suspension doesn’t bother you get it (that too is avoided by slowing down for potholes and ramps) all and all for its price range its very well worth it with the extra battery

The battery failed within the 1st mile when I asked swagtron to fix it they said they cant service Canada customers. we bought 2x scooters at the same time and both had major issues that I had to figure out my self and fix it. Turns out my battery was shorting inside the unit almost causing a fire. I strongly recommend you buy something else. Please post my review Amazon. People have a right to be informed and kept safe.

Got this scooter for my son for his birthday, he wanted to try it out. Took him out for his first walk with it and he used the brake on the back wheel and it broke immediately. Very disappointed that it happened so fast.

If you really want to know the good and the bad. I have held off on writing this review to give it a couple months for a good test run.First off I think this is a quality product with a sleek design. Foldable option is great for storage and transportation. Bike runs about 18-19MPH with a decent battery life. The swap out battery option is probably my favorite option. We bought a spare battery and it works great and doubles your range. I am fairly pleased. The downside. God help you if you have to replace a part or deal with customer service. I have been trying to get a replacement tire for weeks. They are completely non responsive and asking leading questions as to void the warranty. The biggest downside to the design are the tires. They are hard as a rock and it makes for a bumpy ride. The tires will wear down quickly and you will be forced to replace them after a few months of riding on the street or asphalt. Price ranges from $50-80 for a new tire. Finding the right aftermarket is nearly impossible. I have purchased two sets and still can’t find the exact fit. Good luck.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Received today, doesn’t even work. Screen is just stuck with 56.5 miles per hour, I can’t even turn off the scooter. And the throttle doesn’t do anything.Update:As this scooter is kind of heavy and I was too lazy to carry it all the way to the post office, I decided to mess around with it instead of returning it.I took it apart and messed with the cords. Turns out the cpu/board was glitched. After I disconnected a wire on the underside of the scooter (pic 7), the screen turned off and I was able to “reset” the cpu as that cord disconnected the power to the cpu. Turns out that fixed my problem. However, my brand new scooter, that I received literally four hours ago, now has 240 miles on it.Anyways, on to the actual review, the scooter is well built. It feels very sturdy. However, with the sturdiness, comes balkiness. This scooter feels too heavy to actually be portable. Also the lack of suspension is kind of hurting my knees. Thus, I think that it isn’t an ideal daily commuter. For a daily, I would get something with a little less power as I don’t feel that you need to go over 25km/h. Therefore, the scooter can be lighter and portable. Also suspensions are a must, especially if you live in Canada with potholes everywhere and especially if you value your knees.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video. ORIGINAL REVIEW:Pros:- Surpisinly light and nimble to carry when folded.- Uphill beast – conquest most with a heavy dude on it.- Sufficent battery to reach up to 18km distance at max speed, 32km/h.- Supersized air filled tires take over most bumps without problems.Cons:- Just one rear brake, it won’t stop fast in an emergency.- Disk caliper come unadjusted, and my disk brake was lightly bended, so it shakes a little when braking.- Battery charger takes about 6 hours to charge full.- Display is in Mph only.- Do not start with the throttle only you’ll have kick to certain speed first, so start uphill can be tricky.I’ve placed over 60km on it and it does feels solid, and fast but is weak on the braking side. Luckily it comes with the front tire ready to add a another disk brake and even screw holes on the till to adapt a braking caliper mount.I HIGHLY encourage you to get and install another brake at the front wheel (a Xiaomi M365 brake system or similar will do). Although, you should understand this your ultimate decision, and is between two devils:1. Ride as is with the rear only and you certainly may hit something or worst, someone in a full emergey stop. Plus don’t want to be downhill at 32km/h or more (yes, it reaches 45km/h down, tested) if that only brake it has fail.2. Add a front disk. This will help you braking in an emergency, but it may also catapult the inexperience driver if de front tire blocks or fall to the road if it blocks and is slippery. IMO It does feels and rides closer to a small 50cc motorbike experience than an electric bicycle. Me personally, I need another brake. One last thing, always wear PPE while riding this. It is dangerously fast, and less stable than a bike to get a serious life threating injuries and false sense of confidence builds up quickly as you ride. I would recommend full face downhill bike helmets, or motorbike ones.Enjoy the ride and respect others sharing your path!EDIT1:I am having issues that affect riding.I’m thinking in returning it, but actually considering a repurchase if I do. It is honestly fantastic to commute in one of this, but after riding it more, I started to noticed like bumps where it should not, specially while on smooth roads. After a closer look the at wheels, I identified that the rear rim is causing this. One side of the rim, is extremely unbalanced while the other side is smooth. I have tightened all bolts in the unbalanced side, some were little bit loose. But that didn’t fix the issue. I think these rims are assembled in halves, so the if you get a flat you could easily replaced the tire by opening the rim in two. In that kind of rim construction may be the problem. Is a pity, because other than that, it does feel sturdy and well built with plenty of possibilities.EDIT2:Ok, I was curious about how that unbalanced happened in the rim. Usually CNC machines that manufacture that motors should not present that huge deviations. So instead tighten the screws this time, I did the opposite. While loosing the screws one by one, suddenly air begun to escape from the tire. I thought, this is odd, these aren’t tubeless tires. Why the air is going out?I ended up opening up the rim and the inner rubber camera tube was pinched and squeezed between the two halves of the rim!!! To the point of making a huge rip on the rubber but since it was closed by the screws this contained the air inside.Honestly, I think I was lucky that this didnt explode on me while riding it. This is a huge safety concern, I cannot imagine what would may happened to me or other person which received this scooter if not checked long, but nothing good. I think, like with other vehicles, these scooters should have more tighten quality controls and may end with government manufacturing regulations which I welcome. After all, I’m going to keep it, I’m fixing the tube with a bike patch now, and perhaps looking for solid tires in the near future. Please examine the whole scooter in detail before start riding it. Not only tight all the screws but take a look at the riding quality. It’s clear to me where Gotrax (as a rebrand of a Chinese product) is cutting the cost by lacking more quality controls. Still thinking the product is fine, but I’ll edit this again if I got more surprises.3 stars for now.

Razor scooter was a snap to set up. We charged over night and it was all set for the next day. My son loves it! Has decent power and fast enough for 7 yr old, even fast enough for teen or older. Braking system on back wheel works and button accelerator on handle is perfect. Highly recommend this stylish and awesome scooter!!
